While Magazine Editors ”drown” in Starbucks coffee, Fashion Designers have a marriage relationship with diet coke. Now you’d think Coca-Cola would not leverage on that, right? Wrong. Coca-Cola has always been an innovative brand, from their well-produced TV commercials to their now most cool collaborations with reputable Fashion Designers. We’ve seen Mr Chanel himself (Karl Lagerfeld) give their bottle design quite an Artistic edge, followed by the likes of Moschino,Jean-Paul Gaultier and of late Marc Jacobs. I really can’t wait for the next collaboration,though my excitement always gets lessened because we-in South Africa-never get supplies of this collaboration.

It’s a very cold Saturday morning and like any other person would do -snuggle in the blankets and extend the hours of sleep- you’d swear I would do the same after 3 gruesome weeks of studying, wrong. I was really excited to be in Florida because like any other Saturday spent there I get to go to the flea market-not that they have the most amazing merchandise but you do find nice accessories (necklaces mostly) and reasonably priced second-hand books. On my way there I almost stepped on this dry rose look-alike, which fell off from some tree. I was elated because they look adorable. They can be collected and used as decorative art pieces (or so I think). Anywho, I got to the market and the lady who sells the charming necklaces wasn’t there, my shopping excitement dropped so low I almost went straight back home but I decided to be optimistic and stayed instead. As I walked past all these stalls I finally spotted the guy who sells stationery and key holders (remember the Coca-Cola one I used to make a necklace? if you don’t then you’re pardoned) and this time he has bails, the excitement I had at that moment, and each is sold for like R5. I spent close to 10 minutes trying to figure out which one I should purchase, they all looked so adorable. I finally bought a tennis racquet-esque one. Got home and there are no chains I could dismantle to make my necklace. Then I recalled that my boyfriend has a multi-chain necklace he didn’t like after he purchased it. So I decided to play Accessories Designer for a day and voila! the necklace in the above photo.

The funny thing is that I’ve been fascinated in bails and [making] simple yet chic necklaces, ok I only made 2 thus far, Maybe I should start a minute Tiffany & Co; yes, no, maybe?

She’s an Asian (now resides in Amsterdam) Sketcher, who beautifully sketches her observations of everyday life. Her observations are quite intriguing and her sketches are purely enchanting.
